Acne Makeup

Pimples can be a nightmare for teenagers, but adults are not immune to the problem either.  Pimples can be caused by the skin reacting to high testosterone levels in the body.  Hence teenagers reaching puberty are the number one sufferer’s.  High testosterone levels make the sebaceous glands over produce an oily substance our hair and skin needs, sebum.  This blocks the hair follicles, causing blackheads and pimples.  In serious cases it can lead to Acne.  This when most girls will be asking the question, will makeup worsen my pimples?  The answer is no, but you should take care.  Here’s a few of the do’s and don’ts, regarding how to apply make up when you have pimples too.

For larger areas of effected skin, some of the most famous make up artists use a technique known as ‘icing’ to treat the pimple, before applying any coverage.  To do this, gently rotate a small piece of ice all around the affected area.  If your condition is more isolated, small pimples are best treated with any concealer containing salicylic acid.  This will help dry the pimple out and camouflage it at the same time.  There are lots of products available, just ask your pharmacist.

If your pimple is raised and red, firstly, don’t be tempted to squeeze it!  That will just cause more problems tomorrow.  For this, find a product that combines salicylic acid with camphor.  Normally, a dab of this will help reduce the problem.  Stay away from heavy based foundations, they can contain Pomades.  This describes waxy type substances, like petroleum jelly and mineral oils.  If you are still finding it difficult to master how to apply make up when you have pimples too, consult a professional.  If your skin is really bad, it is always best not to wear any make up at all.

Acne creams are probably the most effective form of acne treatment. These creams come in many different forms and with different bases. Supplements are another option in the acne fight. Vitamin Pills, ointments and oils help reduce the appearance of acne and aid the body in destroying the acne causing bacteria on its own. Photodynamic Therapy

In the fight against acne, many options are available. Creams, ointments, cleansers and vitamins have been the most tried methods of acne removal. All of these products; however, good only clear up “break outs” for the short-term. This has been improved on over the years and can now be subdued for the long-term.

Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is available to acne sufferers. The light therapy is used along with a photosensitizing agent to treat acne. When the 5-aminolevulinic acid (ALA) is applied to the skin it enables the skin to be more susceptible to light. After the agent is removed the laser is then pointed at the body where the rays from the light can be absorbed by the skin.

The treatment allows for shrinking of the skin’s oil glands, this entails reduces the amount of oil within the pores. This treatment is great for those who suffer from severe acne and traditional treatments have not worked. ALA-PDT also kills the bacteria that causes acne and helps aid in the removal of dead skin.

The light therapy treatment stems from the basis that sunlight can cure acne. The positive effects that Ultra violet rays can have on the skin are profound. Although, too much sunlight is bad for you, in small doses it can kill the active bacteria in the pores and alleviate acne. With the issue of prolonged exposure to sunlight another option had to be made.

Results Of Photodynamic Therapy

This is why light therapy was utilized for fighting acne. The ALA-PDT therapy has 2 types of light treatment, available. Depending on the needs of the sufferer either a Red or Blue light will be used for the treatment.

The Red Light is mainly used to bring down the inflammation of acne and rejuvenate the skin cells into repairing themselves. This skin has new look to it after the Red Light is used. The Blue Light helps to cure a certain type of acne.

P.acnes is a special type of acne that stops the bacteria already present in the skin from inflaming worse. Molecules called porphyrins are released near the affected area. These porphyrins after exposure to light turn into an anti bacterial free radical. Porphyrins intern eats all the acne causing bacteria, effectively.

The light Blue and Red Light Therapies are very effective at removing the acne causing agents and reducing the affects that acne can cause. An all over rejuvenation in the area of the skin the light treatment is performed, is probably the best improvement this therapy can offer.

These results will only occur after several light therapy sessions.

In order to deal with the dilemma of acne, people have tried every method imaginable. Cold Packs, alcohol rubs and even toothpaste to remove blackheads and pimples. In America, the land of plenty, we have made a market for the pain of others and there zitty faces. There are skin products galore and an equal amount of people to use them.

If acne treatments are not used there can be damage done to the skin. Discoloration and deep lesions will often appear. A good hygiene regimen with a mild skin cleanser can stop a break out before it happens. Skin cleansers neutralize all those bad bacteria in the skin and leave the skin very smooth and fresh looking.

The skin cleanser needs to be hypo allergenic and it is best to find one that is anti allergenic, as well. This is the first defense in the acne battle. Secondly, after the break out has happened, immediately treat the area of infection. With any type of acne removal medication that works right with your body.

Acne creams and ointments are typically the medication of choice for sufferers. These medications contain many active ingredients like Alcohol and Benzyl Peroxide. Alcohol and Benzyl Peroxide are used to remove the excess oil from the skin a kill the bacteria in the pores.

Excessive oil that remains on the face will irritate the acne even more and in some cases the Skin cleansers and topical creams have aggravated the condition and made the acne break out more severe. In cases of scarring from acne many creams have been created to reduce the effects and appearance of the scars. These ointments are similar to make up in nature and will not alleviate the condition of acne at the source.

Severe cases of acne will often need a different approach than over the counter medication. You might have an acne condition like rosacea. Rosacea is not a bacteria issue it is parasitic in nature and needs to have a different course of treatment to alleviate its symptoms.

Acne Rosacea

The condition of acne rosacea is one of the most persistent forms of acne. This skin disease great damage to the face and rosacea’s presence is very obvious. Its sufferers will have symptoms like a red puffy face, pus filled pimples, and facial redness.

Some of the damage rosacea can cause is spider veins and bright red pus filled pimples, that can surround the whole face. Much of this damage is permanent and scarring can be severe. The damage to the skin is due to the aggravation from acne products.

People with rosacea need to stay on top of their disease and utilize the right course of action to alleviate their symptoms. As many of the acne products use alcohol as a base, rosacea sufferers need to stay away from these products.

Alcohol based products deprive the skin if oil. Basically dry it out. When this occurs a rosacea victim will have a worse “break out “than they did, before they used the product. People with rosacea need only use products designed for them; so as not to aggravate the condition.

Rosacea is not a reaction to bacteria, but a reaction to a parasite. The demodex mite lives in the hair follicles of the skin. Everyone has this mite, but people with rosacea are overcome with the pesky critter. It is very hard to get rid of the parasite, even with the use of antibiotic.

As everyone knows, antibiotics are a cure for antibiotics and this in no way will eradicate a parasite. The only thing for a rosacea sufferer to do is learn how to live with the condition and deal with its symptoms. In fact, the pimples, red face and other associated symptoms can be stopped to some degree.

Anti oxidant supplements have been proven to be the best at helping the immune system fight off the demodex mites. Zinc Pills, vitamin C and E are also great for promoting good health and eliminating the demodex mites in some way. The ultimate goal is to get your immune system up to fighting off the parasites.

More homeopathic methods are also available like Buckthorn and berry oil seed. The extracts can control the effects of rosacea and help improve the healing process of the skin. These methods only help mend the issue at hand and it takes a long time to cure Rosacea.

A dermatologist can help you greatly by determining the correct form of treatment you. Some prescription antibiotics can help fight acne rosacea but they are few and far between. With combination of antibiotics, anti oxidant supplements and by using herbal products described above; you can get rid of acne rosacea.

When suffering from acne, people use all types of treatments in hope of curing the symptoms. Not to mention the intense pain and embarrassment associated with the condition. Acne if left untreated or if a “break out” gets severe enough will and does leave scars.

There are many products offered to prevent or stop “break outs”. A lot of these products do work and are temporary solutions to the acne issue. After all, everyone’s body reacts differently and what medication works for one person might not work for another.

Skin creams, cleansers, topical treatments and vitamins are some of the most common treatments available. With these treatments are also the risk of side effects and many who use them typically will have dry skin, after use of these medications. In more severe cases, the acne treatment has been known to aggravate the condition and make the acne worse.

A visit to a dermatologist is probably the best course of action and your doctor can find the right method to suit your needs. The doctor might even suggest some of the more new wave approaches of acne removal. Chemical peeling and Laser therapy is the two most commonly recommended by a dermatologists.

Chemical Peeling is the most common of these methods. There are a number of chemical peels utilized in this process. First in chemical peeling the chemical is applied to the skin to remove acne and scars. This process is very successful, but in some cases the skin can have a negative reaction to the peel.

With the use if the wrong chemicals the skin can become discolored or receive additional damage over and above the acne. There is a more homeopathic approach to chemicals and they have less risk involved. This method treats the layer of skin under the scar, as opposed to treating the acne causing bacteria.

The most common example of this is collagen injections. One injection can improve the skin’s overall appearance and give a more of a healthy look and feel. Collagen injections are not as invasive as the peels and have a less of a chance for a negative reaction from the skin.

Laser therapy is also a very common method for acne and scar removal. Laser resurfacing is when a laser is used to remove the acne causing bacteria and dead skin cells from the face that clog pores and enable infection. This procedure is more expensive than most, but the results from a few sessions with the laser are awesome.

In the most severe forms of acne skin grafting has been done. This is the most drastic procedure offered and has the longest recovery time. A person needing Skin grafting has serious skin damage and infections are prevalent. Also this procedure is only done by a qualified physician and your insurance company will have to approve having this done or they will not pay for the procedure.

Acne needs vary from one person to the next. Keep your issues in mind and seek the appropriate action to fix your problems with acne.
