There are many products offered to prevent or stop “break outs”. A lot of these products do work and are temporary solutions to the acne issue. After all, everyone’s body reacts differently and what medication works for one person might not work for another.

Skin creams, cleansers, topical treatments and vitamins are some of the most common treatments available. With these treatments are also the risk of side effects and many who use them typically will have dry skin, after use of these medications. With the use if the wrong chemicals the skin can become discolored or receive additional damage over and above the acne. There is a more homeopathic approach to chemicals and they have less risk involved. This method treats the layer of skin under the scar, as opposed to treating the acne causing bacteria.

The most common example of this is collagen injections. One injection can improve the skin’s overall appearance and give a more of a healthy look and feel. Collagen injections are not as invasive as the peels and have a less of a chance for a negative reaction from the skin.

Laser therapy is also a very common method for acne and scar removal. Laser resurfacing is when a laser is used to remove the acne causing bacteria and dead skin cells from the face that clog pores and enable infection. This procedure is more expensive than most, but the results from a few sessions with the laser are awesome.

In the most severe forms of acne skin grafting has been done. This is the most drastic procedure offered and has the longest recovery time. A person needing Skin grafting has serious skin damage and infections are prevalent. Also this procedure is only done by a qualified physician and your insurance company will have to approve having this done or they will not pay for the procedure.
